Growing Out Short Hair

Hello my lovelies,

This time last year I decided to cut my hair into a short a-symmetrical pixie style cut. At the time I thought this was a fab idea and didn't take into consideration that it may not suit me. I love short hair cuts, they can look so elegant and edgy, however, I did not manage to pull off this look. I kept this hair cut up until July, by then I'd had enough of the effort it took to style the cut and keep it up to date.

I decided from then that i was going to grow my hair out. This was not the easiest process and it can be so frustrating at times. I thought I would write up a few tips on how to cope with growing out a short hair cut without going insane. I have also included some pictures of how my hair currently looks, I have managed to reach shoulder length which I am absolutely loving

#1 - Decide and commit
When you decide you are going to grow your hair you need to commit to the idea. It will not happen over night and you will want to take a pair of scissors and cut the uneven growing hair, don't! There are times when I couldn't stand my hair during the growing process. Because I had an a-symmetrical cut, one side was longer than the other and I felt stupid having odd bits of hair on the back of my neck. But don't worry, as soon as your hair hits fair length, you can cut your hair to make it even. Best feeling ever.

#2 - Don't be afraid to trim
It seems odd to suggest a trim when you are growing your hair, especially when it feels like every bit of progress is everything. If you don't keep your hair healthy and get rid of those split ends, your hair is going to be less likely to grow sufficiently. I have been told many of times that regular trims will increase hair growth.

#3 - Find other ways to wear your hair
During my hair growth I found lots of creative ways to wear my hair up. I didn't like wearing it down as I wasn't happy with the look so I twisted it up into boho style up-dos which was good enough for me. I began to wear my hair up so often that when I finally sat and thought about it, my hair was looking so much longer! I also invested in a clip in pony tail which looked great, no one can tell the difference.

#4 - Don't dwell on the growth
I used to spend so much time thinking about how unhappy I was with my hair and how much I wanted it to grow. This wasn't good and didn't make me feel happy or confident. Eventually I started to forget about it and the time passed much quicker, it is now April and I have thicker and healthier hair! Be happy and know that eventually, you will be where you want to be.

#5 - Treat yourself
Invest in some nice hair care, I used Mane 'n' Tail Shampoo and Conditioner (£6.99) for a while which is such a great product. I know I sound crazy but this was initially used on horses, however, so many people have found that it increases hair growth and improves hair condition. These products made my hair feel in top condition and I really did see a growth in my hair. I also invested in some hair masks or left conditioner on my hair over night.

It's a frustrating process but it's not the end of the world, be happy the way you are and embrace what you have. I'm happy I stuck to my hair growth and didn't end up chopping it off again!

Highlighting Love

Hello my Lovelies,

As I have recently been having much more clearer skin, I have been embracing make-up that I haven't been comfortable using in the past. Because I always had lumps and bumps due to acne, I felt like using a highlighter and contouring made it look worse. When I applied a highlighter, it would apply to the top of my acne and make me look completely ridiculous. However, recently I have been loving the ability to contour and highlight, it really illuminates my skin.

I have been using the MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighting powder (£3) which I have reviewed in the past, click here. I wasn't that impressed before but I feel that may have been down to my own skin condition. Now that I have a healthier skin look and feel, I think the product applies much more easily and has a much nicer finish.

What do you think?

Lose The Label.

Hello my lovelies,

As I have mentioned previously, I took part in a new campaign called "Lose The Label". This campaign is run by Vichy Dermablend who want people to feel comfortable in their own skin. If you want to know more detail on the experience click here. I really am grateful for the Dermablend range and its' ability to make me feel comfortable and confident in my own skin. We shouldn't be labelled by how we look, especially when it is something we can not change, such as our skin.

I have included a few pictures below that were sent to me by the team at Vichy Dermablend. Please make sure you have a look at the products available from the Dermablend range, or any other of the Vichy ranges, they are life changing. Click here to see the range of products they have to offer.

I think the idea and aims of this campaign is extremely important, we shouldn't be judged by our skin and we should be able to be confident and happy with the way we look. Brands such as Vichy Dermablend have allowed people such as myself to express how we feel and not be labelled by a skin conditions.

Elegant Touch French Manicure

Hello my lovelies,

I have just arrived back in Leeds and couldn't help but pop into the shops at the train station. I'm lucky at Leeds as the some of my favourite shops are in the train station such as The Body Shop, Boots and Paper Chase, not bad eh? Also, my student loan came through today finally so I thought I'd treat myself to some false nails. I have used the Elegant Touch French Manicure (126 - American Pink) (£6.08) before, however, they seem to have changed the product slightly.

First off, each nail has a little number attached to the tip. There are 10 different sizes of nail ranging from 0-9. The largest nail is 0 and the smallest nail is 9. This also makes the nail easier to apply as it gives you something to adjust and apply with. By applying a number to each nail it is so much easier to choose which nail size fits on each nail and match it to the other hand. I love this brand because the formulae of the nail glue is one of the best I have tried. The nail will stay on for so long and it isn't runny either, more like a gel.

I decided to go with the short pack of nails as I can't stand having long nails! This is indicated on the front of the packet. I also really like that you can choose from a range of nail base colours, sometimes the pink can be too bright for me, the 126 is just right for me. These nails are so easy to apply and I am really impressed, as usual, with this brand.

Overall I would definitely recommend this product to those who want false nails without the extreme lengths. They are super easy to apply and look so good! Let me know if you have tried this product before and what you thought!

(From thumb to pinkie, I used sizes: 3 8 9 7 5)

Lazy Days and Friendly Outings

Hello my lovelies, hope you are all happy!

The end of the Easter break is upon us and I will soon be back at university. I have had such a nice time at home spending it with family and friends. I thought I'd just post a few pictures that I took over the time I spent at home. I spent a lot of time with my boyfriend which was nice as I don't see him as often when I am in Leeds.

My boyfriends family have also suggested that they might be going on holiday over Christmas and were kind enough to invite me! I can't wait to finish my first year of university and spend the summer planning new things and enjoying myself! I have also become hooked to a new TV series, American Horror Story. It is the most weirdest thing I have watched but it is so addictive and has such an interesting storyline. I had a lovely meal with my friends last night, it was so nice have a catch up and a good laugh. I had a Smoked salmon sandwich with cream cheese & chives on Rosemary flatbread, it tasted amazing! I also had two pots of tea and a chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce and ice cream.

What have you guys been doing this Easter?

Collection Eyeshadow Palette

Hello my lovelies,

Today I have a fabulous eyeshadow palette to share with you. I have been trying out the Collection Eyeshadow Palette Nude (£3.99) for a while now and I am so impressed. The palette consistes of 8 diferent shades of nude eyeshadows and 1 highlighter.

This Palette is great if you love a good smokey eye. The range of neutral colours is fab as it allows you to alter how intense or dramatic the look is. By including a highlighter you are getting two products for an amazing price. The pigmentation of the last two rows as great they stay on all day, however, because my skin is so pale, the first two shades in the first row don't really show all that much. The only downside to this product is that by inserting a highlighter among the eyeshadow, it can get a little mucky as there is no way of sealing it off.

You really don't need a lot of product to create a great smokey eye so this product is extremely long lasting. I use this palette everyday for my eyes as well as eyebrows. You can also purchase the exact same palette with a darker black range of shades which is perfect for nights out or special occasions.

Let me know id you have tried this product and what you thought, I love it!

Victoria Secret Fragrance Mist

Hello My lovelies,

Today I thought I'd share this amazing fragrance with you as I am absolutely addicted. I love going to the Victoria secret shop, everything looks and even smells amazing. The selection of lingerie is gorgeous and the range of fragrances available leaves you with endless choices.

Recently my sister and I visited the Victoria Secret where we saw an amazing offer. Usually the fragrance mists cost £11 however they were offering 7 fragrances for £30! This would be a saving of £47! I'm so glad I went in when I did as the fragrances are gorgeous!

Out of all the fragrances I purchased, the Mango Temptation has to be my favourite. It smells so fresh and Sweet. The scent will last all day and I receive so many compliments when I wear it. The best thing about this product is that the bottle is really big so you won't run out for a good while! I also have this scent in a shower wash which makes showering ten times better! The packaging of these products are also so beautiful and look so pretty. The bottles are so elegant and they look so luxurious.

I would really recommend buying one of these fragrance mists if you want a cheaper alternative to a perfume, they all smell so fresh and gorgeous.
